Prospective Applicants

Dear Applicant;

The University of Texas Medical School at Houston Orthopaedic Residency Program provides five years of accredited graduate medical education fulfilling the educational requirements of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Following the initial year of general medicine and surgical exposure (including three months of orthopaedics), each resident is then taken through a four year curriculum of increasing responsibility and sub-specialty exposure within the field of orthopaedic surgery. This process involves:

  • Ten clinical/surgical rotations through six major institutions within the Texas Medical Center
  • Conferences, Core Knowledge Lectures, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, and Guest Lectureships
  • Resident Research Projects
  • Hands-on laboratory instruction for trauma techniques, arthroscopy and microsurgery
  • Faculty Mentoring Program
  • State-of-the-art computer and library support
A completed application must be received through the ERAS program by October 15 of the year prior to start of the program year..

A completed application consists of the following:

  1. Application with photograph
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Personal Statement
  4. Dean's Letter and Transcript from School
  5. Three Letters of Recommendation
